Molecular Systems Science and EngineeringApplication Procedure

If you are interested in applying for the Molecular Systems Science and Engineering Master Program at Heidelberg University, please check out the abbreviated and translated admissions regulations below. For the full overview check out the admissions regulations document.

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in fields related to Molecular Systems Science and Engineering (for more information check the Target Group page). The bachelor's degree has to be completed with a minimum of 180 ECTS credit points. If you have not yet completed your bachelor program at the time of application, you can still apply with a preliminary transcript of record. 
  2. In the case of certificates from foreign educational institutions, officially certified translations in German or English must be enclosed. If the university entrance qualification and academic achievements were acquired in the People's Republic of China, India, or Vietnam, a certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center (Akademische Prüfstelle (APS)) must also be submitted.
  3. At least 96 ECTS credit points must have been completed in subjects relevant to MSSE.
  4. English Language proficiency certificate (TOEFL with at least 90/120; IELTS with at least 6,5; others: see admissions regulations)

 

Applications to the program are usually open from February 1st until March 15th. For some international applicants, different deadlines may apply.

Applications to the program are possible via the web portal of Heidelberg University. Navigate to the program website and use the “Bookmark subject +” button. From there, follow the instructions on the next screen.

Applicants must also provide a letter of motivation. Please download the respective template and include it in your application.

Candidates with outstanding study results may apply for the Carl Zeiss Foundation Qualification Stipend. Applications for the Qualification Scholarship are open between June 1 to September 15 (Winter Semester) and January 15 and March 31 (Summer Semester).
