Yes, all courses that are part of our curriculum will be taught in English. However, you are free to sit in on any lecture given at Heidelberg University which includes German lectures that may pique your interest.

What is the difference between the Cluster of Excellence 3DMM2O and MSSE?

The Cluster of Excellence 3D Matter Made to Order (3DMM2O) is a separate organization that is comprised of labs from Heidelberg University, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and a Cluster Office. Many students from Heidelberg and Karlsruhe start their PhD as part of the 3DMM2O cluster and the associated HEiKA Graduate School for Functional Materials. MSSE is a master program at Heidelberg University. All primary program professors are part of 3DMM2O.

You will not automatically be part of the cluster; however, it is possible that during your lab rotations and your thesis, you will join a lab that is part of the cluster.

You will also receive the opportunity to apply to the Carl Zeiss Foundation Qualification Scholarship
