AG Selhuber-Unkel Group Leader Dr. Aldo Leal-Egana is an invited speaker at the Symposium on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology in Costa Rica this week! He will be discussing his work on artificial tumors and biomaterials for cancer research.

During this presentation, Dr. Leal-Egana discussed how it might be possible to mimic the architecture of complex pathologies in vitro, such as cancer. This task can be addressed by mimicking the biophysical properties already described for in vivo tumors, at the nano- and micro-scale. Understanding and replicating the biophysical features of disease states could help the biomedical community design new strategies in the laboratory to fight diseases like cancer.
